annual Best of the Best Readers

Choice Awards. Over 5,000 votes

were cast for businesses and top

citizens in 145 different catego-

ries. Several winners from last

year took top honors again, but

once again, there were many new

winners. Of course, that’s not un-

usual as Elgin and the surrounding

area continues the growth of new

businesses. In several of the cate-

gories there were no surprises, as

the longtime hometown businesses

have a very loyal customer base.

It’s all a matter of who gets out

there and casts the votes.
